The plane of a million delays
Hello all you thing-a-ma-jigs, watchamawhoozies, and general whozie whatzits. I am here to tell the tale I’m supprised didn’t get onto CNN. The giant hold up at Orlando International. I was on my way back home from Disney World with Broke Hoedown, when our flight was delayed several times. When we arrived at the gate, I played on my ipod, Broke Hoedown watched CNN, and then over the intercom spoke, “Attention flight 1502 passengers, there is a slight wheater delay due to lighting near the ramps, this should clear up in just one minute,” we sat there for 15, 20 minutes, maybe even half an hour. Then, storm cleared up, and we could board, when we found out the flight attendants had left the plane. we sat in the gate, for another ten minutes. When all the passengers finally got on board, the pilot discovered a minor mechanical issue, which took up 20 minutes to half an hour. I’m no mathematician, but that sounds like over one hour. This scenario hit all over the country! Detroit, Sacramento, those are just examples. I met some people who had this happen to them. We missed our connection because of it. And if you think thats bad, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! A dozen and a half people all went to customer service to complain and get hotels and such. The customer service worker didn’t know how to handle this. Neither did anyone. At first we tried just getting another hotel, and we couldn’t! When a flight by united was delayed by weather, something out of their control, you get a pink coupon for fourty to sixty percent off. When it is delayed do to the crew or the plane, it is thier fault and they give you a free room. The computer only said that weather was the problem. If it had only been weather, all of us would have made our connections, but instead we had to pay for a hotel room! It was crazy! We couldn’t contact the pilot or any of the crew, so we had to pay! Word spread fast across the airport. I met someone coming from Detriot who had heard about the Orlando flight, and I was waiting for the hotel shuttle! I am never flying united again!

[...] Well, it was an interesting trip home…I hadn’t planned to be at Dulles International Airport this morning at 5:15am, but United Airlines was kind enough to make this possible. Silly me, I thought I’d be asleep in my own bed by then! Who says passengers are increasingly dissatisfied with airlines’ customer service? Though I must say, my son The Wachamacallit found the whole thing every bit as irritating as did I, and has a few choice words in his blog today. [...]

[...] (a.k.a. CollateralDamage Jr.) writes about the heckish return from Orlando on United in The plane of a million delays. A nice headline that plays off Disney’s Year of A Million Dreams theme which is only fitting [...]
